The living room also mostly needed TLC - scrape and stain the floors, paint the walls, and replace the cheesy candle sconces. The room doesn't get a whole lot of natural light, so I wanted bright colors to counterbalance that.
AFTER:
I didn't realize it at the time, but this room was very influenced by Don and Megan's apartment on Mad Men.
Drapes: Marimekko Tantsu fabric, metal blinds: Hunter Douglas
Couch, coffee table, rug, floor lamp and wall hanging: Crate and Barrel (Big thank you to Nancy at the Short Hills store who helped me pick everything out and arranged shipping, etc.)

Tables and lamp were hand-me-downs I'd had for years.
Lamp shade is Stieffel (big midprice, midcentury brand) purchased via Etsy
TV stand and bar cart: CB2

Matching flowerpot and plant from Amazon, by searching "blue flowerpot" and "palm plant" respectively
Paint: Benjamin Moore Icing on the Cake (light blue) and West Coast (dark blue)
